
First and foremost, Revolution Aircraft is a design firm. Our goal is to change the way aircraft are designed. It is our belief that ingenuity is the key to this change. We are capable of designing, analyzing, and building metallic and composite aircraft components. Aerospace design is an iterative process and involves multiple disciplines, we pull from our varied backgrounds to streamline the process and rapidly mature designs.
The majority of parts we encounter can be analyzed using hand analysis as opposed to FEA. While more than capable of sizing components, at times it makes more sense to capitalize on our partner's expertise with structural analysis when we encounter challenging problems. Our partners are just as fast, accurate, and capable as we are. You will find them to be just as professional and knowledgeable as Revolution. We also work with testing rigs; the design of test setups utilized to confirm analysis.
Revolution has applied CATIA automation across multiple programs to automate and streamline redundant design problems. For example, a set of stringer end fittings (SEFs) needed to be designed to transfer stringer loads through a bulkhead. Each SEF carried different loads and as the fuselage was tapering at the fuselage station, each SEF had different dimensions. A program was created to perform the multiple measurements on each SEF and update each one in order to attain the necessary margins. This increased the structural efficiency and reduced required manpower to perform the task. Revolution has also utilized automation to create joint definitions for Boeing component assemblies from only HPLs (Hole Point Locations). FIDVs (Fastener Indicator Direction Vectors) and geometric sets were created from these seed HPLs. Utilizing surface FIDV intersection detection, Joint Definitions can be grouped according to grip length. Limitations of automation lie in fastener type, but this can be overcome by grouping seed HPLs.
